RE Celebration Day
The school was brilliantly represented by ten Year 5 pupils at an RE Celebration Day hosted by Bishop Justus School.
Nine primary schools and Year 7 from Bishop Justus presented different aspects of Easter, using artwork, writing and a range of exciting hands-on activities. Each school adopted a theological concept related to Easter. Ours was ‘Victory’! We thought about Jesus’ new life, his determination to persevere, overcome and win the prize (Hebrews Chapter 12)1 and the Armour of God (Ephesians Chapter 6)2 where our only weapon is love and our model Jesus. Our interactive activity was a Quest type quiz based on the ‘Name of God’ stepping stone challenge from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. This was very popular -especially as the prize on this occasion was Haribos!
1“let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and pefecter of our faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the Father.”
2”Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
