London Youth Games

Chislehurst represented the borough of Bromley at the London Youth Games on Thursday for basketball.

Despite putting in lots of training over the last few weeks, we were unlucky to be drawn agains Camden in our first match, last year's winners. We were a bit outclassed early on, falling behind quickly 8-0. We did claw back, and a basket from Eric and a freethrow narrowed the margin to 9-3, but we ran out of time and the score remained the same.

In our second match, we were more competitive. We actually took a 4-2 lead into the last two minutes, but Islington made a key substitution and put on a sharp-shooter who scored several unanswered points and led his team to an 8-4 win. Unfortunately our third opponent Enfield did not turn up, so we only got to play the two matches.

The team played admirably against extremely quick, big and skilful opposition. For Sammy and Jake, they will now look to lead the team in Year 6 and hopefully return to the games for another try in 2016.
