Autumn Term 2018
This term we opened with our Eucharist Service which was a lovely event. The children worked hard to produce some very moving poetry and prayers which they delivered beautifully on the day.
In Science, we have been investigating Light. We were fortunate enough to be able to borrow some equipment from the science department at Bishop Justus to help us with our investigations. We had great fun with the light boxes and torches reflecting light and measuring angles and shadow length.
We have been continuing with our topic on WW2 and the children enjoyed making Anderson shelters in pairs. Our next focus area will be the sensitive issue of how the Jews were treated across Europe during the war. We will be linking this to the text ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’. Children are encouraged to read the book at home and do some additional research, however we have stressed to the children that this research must be supervised as they may come across information / images that is not age appropriate.
Finally the children have been considering how Christian beliefs link with the scientific world and have posed some questions around this to Dr Anna Goodman, a Christian neuro-scientist. We were very fortunate to be able to receive answers to all our questions via video link from Anna.
