Head Teacher's Welcome

Mr J.C. Paddington
Head Teacher

I have the privilege of leading a dedicated and hard working staff team towards our shared goal of providing an environment where our pupils grow to have an enjoyment and a thirst for learning within a happy and secure Christian family base.

Our school is a successful blend of old and new. Located on the picturesque Chislehurst Common, the beautiful red-brick buildings, which date from the early Victorian period, conceal a school enjoying a rich and varied curriculum and a 21st century approach to learning.

We are a Church of England Voluntary Aided school belonging to the Diocese of Rochester. Faith in God is central to the life of the school and how we approach our involvement in the wider community. We strive to instil in our children, a balance between personal achievement and the sense of purpose with which Christianity challenges us.

It is a school steeped in history and tradition and we promote and expect the traditional values of respect for others, self-discipline and conscientious work in the conduct of our children. The atmosphere in the school is that of a family (in all its moods!) and I believe that family life is the key influence on the growing child. To that end, I value greatly the links between the home, church and school, which when effectively established, provide a secure support for a child’s overall education.

As a father of three children, I fully appreciate the total and sometimes overwhelming responsibility that parents have for their children’s upbringing, and with that the constant daily battles, involvement, heartache and sheer pleasure that this demands. The time that a child spends at their primary school has a substantial and significant influence on how that person develops in later life, and when the relationship formed between the parent and school is based on trust, support and a desire to work together, then the outcome for each child can only be the very best.
