Boys Spring Term Update

The boys have played very well this season, getting into the final of the cup and managing to beat many teams in the league. We are really proud of our performances beating many teams 5-1 and 3-1. We also still have a chance to win our mini league with us currently in second and only a few points behind the leaders. We have played very well as a team all through the season but due to our training at lunchtime, we have become a stronger team and harder to beat. We feel ready for the final which is at Orpington Rovers Fc and we are ready for who is standing in front of us.

Girls Spring Term Update

Overall this season, the girls’ football team has been quite successful. They have won many matches and one of their best wins was here, at St Nicks for the first time, against Raglan. We have had some ups and downs, with wins and losses, but we are all very proud to be part of the girls St Nicks football team.

Here at St Nicks, we won 6-0 against Raglan primary school. One of our other great games was against Southborough primary school. They are a very skilful team and they were hard to tackle but we did not let them get passed us. Unfortunately, we have drawn all our matches against them.

At one of our best tournaments we came forth out of the whole of Bromley, although that was sadly not enough to go to the London Youth Games. We also came second in the Bromley district tournament due to a penalty shoot-out win in the semi-final.  We are currently playing in the league matches, battling to win. So far with our league games we have lost two, drawn one and won one.

Tag Rugby Tournament

On Tuesday 6th of February 2018 the year six A,B &C  teams all went to a massive tag rugby tournament at Parkhouse. There were around 40 teams there even though there were some drop outs. We arrived  at 8:40am, exited and prepared for a long day of tag rugby ahead of us.

A team results

The A teams first game was up against Harris Crystal Palace.  They were a great team and were incredibly fast. Sadly we couldn’t grab the players tags in time and they scored. The end score was 1:0 to Harris CP.

Our second game was against Bickley and we really hoped to improve from our 4:0 loss on the previous Friday. Luckily things improved as Sam G slipped past the defence and scored. Sadly though Bickley’s best player scored giving us a draw of 1:1.

The next game was against St James, it was a really good game and it showed that we were improving. We won this game 4:0.

Our 4th game was against Keston.  We did really well in this game as our taggers managed to stop a lot of people passing our defence. Everyone felt we played our hardest and the end result was 4:0 to us.

With high hopes, our final game was against Egdebury. We had observed them well and managed to pick out some of their tactics. Luckily we managed to win 3:0.

It was very tense as we waited for the results,  we were all praying that we got through to the finals. We knew we had a good chance as we had won 3/5 games. We were so happy when coach told us that we had got through and he also told us that it was very close and we needed to play our hardest.

Our first game in the finals was against Pickhurst. They were a very tough team to play - we were very excited and relived when we won the game 2:1.

Then the next game we played was against Highfield. They were an amazing team and we couldn’t stop them from scoring.  Sadly we lost against them as they won 2:0.

Another tough game we faced was against Valley Primary School we had watched them play previous teams and they looked very good. Thankfully our wingers didn’t let us down and we managed to draw with them 1:1.

Then our 4th game of the afternoon was against Oak Logde.  We didn’t know much about this team and weren’t surprised when they slipped past our defence making it a draw of 1:1.

Finally our last game was against Harris Crystal Palace again. We were very nervous as they had beaten us before. Luckily our left winger, Sienna, managed to score making it another draw.

Finally it was time to find out the overall results of the tournament.  We all waited nervously, hoping that we placed well.  In the end, we came joint 4th with Valley Primary, an excellent result considering the number of teams competing and we were all very proud of ourselves.

Season so far write up, by Matthew

The boys have done really well this term. We have achieved lots and everybody has done extremely well.

This term we played a football tournament at Bromley FC. We had so much fun in this tournament. We played 5 games managing to win 2 and drawing 1. Unfortunately, we did not make it through in this tournament but we played lots of teams, who were full of strong players. So we did come across teams that were stronger than us. We were all proud of our performances.

Also we have played 3 matches in our mini league including: Clare House, St Josephs and St James. We played really well in all these games coming away with 2 wins and a draw. We managed to work well as a team scoring 8 in total and only conceding 4. We finished 1st in our league and are now in a group with the teams who also won there group.

We have also got through to the quarter finals of the cup managing to beat Manor Oak. We won the game 4-0 only starting with 5 a side. Matthew scored 2, Aaron scored 1 and Sam scored 1. We also kept a clean sheet because of our quality defence and some cracking saves by Sam our goalie. Overall our term has been really good and we are proud of our achievements.

On Tuesday 28th November the year 5 and 6 girls went to Bromley football club to play a football tournament. There were eight teams in total and we managed to come fourth.

The first team we played were Southborough. It was an extremely tough match as they have some brilliant players however we did amazingly and managed to draw with a score of 0-0.

The second team we played were Clare House which ended in 1-0 to us. Sophie (one of our star strikers) scored us our fantastic winning goal and Erin managed to keep the ball away from our goal.

Our next match we lost against Wickham Common with a 1-0 loss however Amber – our amazing goalie- kept the rest of their shots away.

Our fourth match was against Red Hill and we won 1-0. Hannah was playing her best in midfield and it really payed off in the end. She was crossing the ball  to Tippi hoping she would score,  however the captain of Red Hill got the ball instead and scored an own goal.

We next played Pickhurst we could have won this match and everyone tried their hardest but the end result didn’t pay off as we drew 0-0.

When we played Keston, we won 1-0 and Tippi scored directly from an incredible corner kick. Everyone played their part amazingly in this match.

Our final game was against Oak lodge and it  was extremely tense as if we won we would have a chance at going through to the London Youth Games however the pressure got to us to much and we lost 1-0.

In the end we had won three games drew three games and lost two games. We were all sad but proud of ourselves and we landed up in fourth place.

Amber, Hannah, Erin, Francesca, Tippi, Sienna, Sophie, Grace and Megan.

Year 4 Football Team

Bromley 6-a-Side mixed football competition

Played 4

Won 3, Drew 0, Lost 1

Final Position: 2nd

Write up by Hannah & Amber

On the 23rd November 2017 the year 4 football team went to the Bromley 7 a-side tournament. They knew they had a strong team and had to play four 7 minute matches against different schools.

There first match was up against St Marys. After doing the warm up they were so excited and were ready to go. Luckily they had Teddy at striker and he managed to score 2 goals and they also had great defenders like Ana and Keira who managed to keep the ball away from their goal.

After winning their first match 2:0 the team were more determined to win their second game against Harris Crystal palace. Sadly, despite playing brilliantly, Joshua let an unlucky goal slip in and they lost 1:0.

After their first loss, the team wanted to win the next game against Clare House. They knew they were a strong team so they played extra hard. Thankfully Barack managed to score giving the team another crucial win. After the win, he had this to say: “ It was so much fun playing and knowing that we had won 2 matches already we were going to try are best to win our next game and leave on a high note “.

It was very tense as the year 4 team was about to play their last match against Holy Innocents. Everyone was disappointed when the opponents managed to score, but they came back strong when Teddy scored a hat-trick leaving them a score of 3:1.

Everyone was ecstatic as they were going to find out the results. They were very happy to find out that they came 2nd and they knew that their hard work had paid off.

The fantastic players who went were Martha, Edward, Keira, Teddy, Lois, Barack, Anna, Oscar, Tess and Joshua.

On Wednesday 22nd of November, two teams went to Coopers school to play in a 3 vs 3 Basketball tournament.

The first match the A team played was against Wickham Court and Mathew scored leading us to a 1-0 win. With another success winning our next match and the following three after that and we made it through to the cup finals. Putting us in a good position.

For the next match we managed to win against Holy Innocents leaving us in a total score of a 6-0 win. The next two matches unfortunately we had lost both of them, but then we drew in our last two matches.

Everyone was so happy, but we did not have enough to win, but we still made it to 5Th place.

The Team, Matthew, James, Ignacio, Erin, Francesca, Sam G, Luke, Vanessa, Scarlet and Tippi.

Years 5 & 6 swimming gala

Final Position: 1st

Write up by Hannah & Amber

On the 1st November 2017, 16 swimmers from year 6 and 5 went to Eltham College looking forward to participating in Bromley small schools’ swimming gala. Everybody was cheering on each other and being supportive whatever place they came.

We got off to a flying start when Matthew came 1st in his individual freestyle race and Hannah came 3rd in her freestyle race. Everybody was really happy when Sancha came 1st in her breast stroke race and Joshua came 4th in his. After all these great scores Sienna and Tom were ready to go in their individual back stroke races. They did amazing and they both came 3rd.

In most of our relays we would either come 2nd or 3rd but we were so over joyed when we won our double point’s race. In this particular race you would have to have 4 girls and 4 boys.  We were in second place until our last person to go, Kate managed to overtake the first place pupil that’s when we knew we had one the race and successfully gained double points.

At the end of the gala we were crossing our fingers with hope when she announced the scores. We were very surprised when Keston came in 3rd as they usually win these galas. We were very happy but a little bit disappointed to hear we came in second all we knew is that we tried our best and had fun. But it wasn’t until after the gala we were told that Valley (the school that had won) was a middle sized school and we were competing for the small schools’ trophy so that meant we had won!!!

The team contained: Scarlett, Hannah, Matthew, Tom, Sienna, Sancha, Eddie, Henry, Freddie, Zach, Freya, Emily, Joshua, Megan, Ignacio and Kate.

Cross Country

The Parish Cross Country Event

Write up by Hannah & Francesca

On Thursday 5th October, 32 children attended the cross country event at Paris primary school.

The first race was our year 3 girls. They all did brilliantly however our top scorers were Amelia and Georgia who managed to come 2nd and 5th which was fantastic because they were in the top 10. The year three boys did great as well as Alex J was leading for some of the race but unfortunately dropped to 4th however they all did amazingly well.

The next year group to run was the year 4s. Our girls went first. Anna, Kira, Louis and Isabelle all did amazing. Then our boys went, they also did incredibly well, Edward managed to get a bronze medal as well as Isabelle.

The year 5 race was unbelievably close with Nell coming 2nd. Unfortunately none of the boys came in the top three but they all did remarkably well.

They year 6 race was the last one of the day. It all came down to this race. The buzzer went and the girls were off. Hannah was leading the St Nicks girls followed by Francesca, Sienna and Kate. On the final stretch the girls all sprinted. Hannah came 2nd, Francesca came 5th, Sienna came 10th and Kate came 17th they all did incredibly well. The boys were also amazing. Matthew was in the lead for most of the race however unfortunately he got over taken and landed in 2nd place.

Everyone did great and everyone should be so proud of themselves.
