St Nicholas Church of England Primary School

Church and Community

Christian Community

At St Nicholas CE Primary School we place a high importance on our involvement and association with local churches. Three of our nearest Parish churches; St Nicholas, Christ Church and the Church of the Annunciation, all enjoy an equal standing in our admissions policy and the school regularly worships in all three Churches:

  • St Nicholas Church - St Nicholas Church is only a short walk across the common from our school and we worship there frequently; including whole school family services, the celebration of Eucharist for each class and the festivals of St Nicholas Day and Christmas. The incumbent of St Nicholas Church is always a member of our Aquinas advisory council.
  • Christ Church - Christ Church is in Lubbock Road, Chislehurst, is a slightly longer walk down Old Hill. We celebrate Easter here and the good people of Christ Church have in the past hosted our end of year school drama production and annual music concert in the main church.
  • The Church of The Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary - the ‘Annunciation’ for short is at the far end of Chislehurst High Street. We make an annual ‘pilgrimage’ to that lovely old church in late spring to celebrate Pentecost.

We also visit:

  • Chislehurst Methodist Church - Chislehurst Methodist Church is on Prince Imperial Road which is a short walk across Chislehurst Common. At St Nicholas CE Primary School, our whole school community join together here to worship and to celebrate Harvest and Pentecost. You can find their website here

Church leaders from all three parish churches also visit our school regularly to take acts of worship in the school hall as do church leaders from The Methodist Church, The Spinnaker Trust and The Ichthus Free Church, who meet at 85 High Street, Chislehurst.

Our Charities

Each year the school chooses a charity to support and raise money for. We hold several fundraisers each year and have collection buckets at various services and performances at our local churches. This year we are supporting the Little Ted Foundation

We have a team of selected Year 6 children that champion these charities and organise great events to spread the word and raise awareness.

We also support Love in a Box and the British Legion Poppy Appeal
